‘BEST OF’ READERS POLLS – The Advocate/Weekly’s Best of Readers’ Polls are an annual feature in which our readers vote for their favorite restaurants, bars, stores and other local businesses.  There are three annual readers’ polls: one for Greater Hartford, one for Greater New Haven and one for Fairfield County.  Our Best of Readers’ Polls are the most popular readers’ polls in the state, thus giving our readers a great idea of the  best, most respected businesses in their community.  We also hold several Voter Parties and Winner Parties in conjunction with these polls.

GRAND BAND SLAM – Grand Band Slam is a Connecticut institution among fans of local music. Readers from across the state vote on their favorite local bands and then attend concerts where the nominated bands perform. The results of our annual local music readers’ poll show who our readers like best, from hip-hip to reggae to pop to metal (and much more) and are officially announced at the Connecticut Music Awards. The Grand Band Slam voting culminates with a concert series across the state featuring the winning bands.

MUSIC – The Advocate/Weekly papers and website provide thorough and up-to-date coverage Connecticut’s original music scene, as well as buzz-worthy national and regional acts touring through the state.

CONNECTICUT MUSIC AWARDS – In 2012 the Advocate Weekly papers and CT.com introduced the 1st Annual Connecticut Music Awards in conjunction with their annual Grand Band Slam.  The Connecticut Music Awards (CTMAs for short) are the first event of its kind in CT, uniting artists from across the entire state for one evening in which the entire CT music scene is celebrated.  Winners in 16 categories walked away with trophies and the right to call themselves the best in Connecticut.

CT.com – With over 102,000 unique visitors each month, CT.com — the website of the Hartford Advocate, New Haven Advocate and Fairfield County Weekly — delivers news, opinion, events, entertainment, personals and more to an educated, affluent and dedicated audience.

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS – CT.com’s weekly email newsletter with things to do, places to go and stuff to win. Each e-blast spotlights some great events and activities and always offers contests for readers to enter.  Friends With Benefits contests also appear in the Hartford Advocate newspaper.
